Ocean Traders invests in curtain-side and standard containers.

Ocean Traders has considerably boosted its equipment fleet by expanding with a new 45 ft. curtain-side container for use in the European market. Ocean Traders invested in the curtain-side container to provide more efficient side access loading to our customers. The new curtain-side container has been specifically designed to compete in this new market; therefore widening business opportunities for multimodal transportation. The new 45 ft. curtain-side container is one of the longest free-side access containers in the world. It offers a clear opening space of 12.50 meters in length, a none supported 40 ft. corner casting, 13.62 meters in internal length, and is stillfully stackable, making it a unique piece of equipment. These containers are breaking all rules in container design and will open a full integration between sea, road and rail transportation. The curtain-side container offers a payload greater than 28 tons and will be phased into service during May, 2005. For certain traffic flows, intermodal containers using rail, barge, and lift-on, lift-off container ships can offer a significant reduction in total cost to our customers. 
Additionally, switching to intermodal transport methods is undoubtedly more environmentally friendly. 

Ocean Traders has also invested in standard 20 ft. containers to expand its common pool for international shipping. The new 20 ft. containers will have the new “Ocean Traders” logo and can be used worldwide based upon consumer demand.
