The flag of Ouddorp is based on the coat of arms established by the High Council of Nobility in 1816. Ouddorp was still an independent municipality at the time.
The Ouddorp coat of arms is unique to Goeree-Overflakkee. It is the only coat of arms consisting of four smaller coats of arms, or quarters.
These are the four coats of arms of the polders from which the municipality was created: Oudeland (the castle), Oude Nieuwland (the crossbows), West Nieuwland (the parrot), and De Ouden Oostdijk (with the castle). The first mention of these combined coats of arms for Ouddorp dates from 1716. Read more
