The flag of Ouddorp is based on the coat of arms established by the High Council of Nobility in 1816. Ouddorp was still an independent municipality at the time.
The Ouddorp coat of arms is unique to Goeree-Overflakkee. It is the only coat of arms consisting of four smaller coats of arms, or quarters.
These are the four coats of arms of the polders from which the municipality was created: Oudeland (the castle), Oude Nieuwland (the crossbows), West Nieuwland (the parrot), and De Ouden Oostdijk (with the castle). The first mention of these combined coats of arms for Ouddorp dates from 1716.

After the scrap was sorted and processed, the scrap that was suitable for the smelter “Nedstaal”, was loaded into Inland Waterway Vessels in the Ouddorp harbor. After the Vessels got bigger, the Inland Waterway Vessels had to be loaded into the Stellendam harbor.
Dimmen Hoek and Krijn Hoek, the 3rd generation of the Family Business, purchased a lot of scrap at these large Structures. Also, various demolition work was carried out at these large Structures.
